Yes, but after attending over 60+ births I can assure you, your significant other is mostly focused on supporting you during this time and not concerned about taking pictures. Also to be honest, he will most likely forget, understandably as his priority is you and your precious baby. Would you ask your Mom to photograph your wedding day? It's best to let someone who has the experience with low lighting conditions, the right eye for beautiful images and the passion for it to handle the birth photography.
I'm concerned about my privacy, how will you respect it?
Having had 5 births of my own, I bring to the table an appreciation for birth and before you hire me, we will go over this in detail; "would you want me to leave the room during exams, emergencies, etc." My goal is to be a "fly on the wall" so to speak. I want to be quiet, film and document that is not intrusive and in your way.
Do you bring bulky equipment?
Rest assured I do not have a camera crew, microphone and all that fun stuff, I simply bring a back-pack with my camera and a back-up camera.
When do you come to my birthing place and how long do you stay?
As soon as labor begins you will keep me in the loop so I can be well prepared to come when I need too. I generally arrive at your birthing place when you are in active labor and leave 1-2 hours after the baby is born.
What if I need a c-section?
Some of my favorite clients have had c-sections and their birth films turned out absolutely beautiful. Please talk with your hospital/OB prior to your birth and ask permission if you can have someone document in the event of a c-section. If I am not allowed back in the OR, I allow your attending person to bring my camera back.
When should I hire you?
As soon as you know your estimated due date. It's best to have me booked since I take limited clients each month.
